상상력이 돋보이는 책이다. 뉴스에서 볼 수 있는 단어나 야구선수 이름, 차 이름이 나오기도 해서 조금 어렵게 느껴질 수도 있겠다. 미국에서 야구선수 카드가 어떤 가치를 지니는 지도 알 수 있으면 좋겠다. - Words collector - I m a collector. 차 이름 - Would I buy a Corvette, a Rolls-Royce, or a Jeep? win the lottery - I was dreaming about what I could buy if I won the lottery. nothing but - But it was nothing but an old strip of rubber. be into - Kknneth is into recycling. junk - What Kenneth collects is junk. make ~ out of - He likes to make stuff out of it. ravioli - "And the lunch was ravioli." raise taxes - "Do you know they raised my taxes to $2,000?" Where am I going to get $2,000? This country is in bad shape. In fact, this whole planet is a mess." contraption 기계장치- I had never tried any of Kenneth s contraptions before. stream / brownish / crack : A little stream of brownish water bubbled through a crack in the wall. slap / gunk(끈적끈적한 것) "Slap some of this gunk on there, will you?" cruise - We were cruising above the ocean floor. scenery - The scenery was awesome. ripple - Light rays rippled through the water. 나는 물이 확 쏟아져 들어올 줄 알앗으나 아무일도 일어나지 않았다. I expected a big flood, but nothing happened. seal - The rubber strip made a tight seal against the wall. cavern - Kenneth opened it, and we crawled into an underwater cavern. arrangement - We have a nice arrangement. merpeople - The merpeople collect it for me. stale - The bubble gum was pretty stale. catalog - In my baseball-card catalog there s a whole page on that card. scratch - I was counting out the packs and scratching numbers in the sand when Kenneth called me. porthole - He waved his hand toward the porthole. Tony카드는 5000달러나 나간다구요. Tony Pudnik is going for $5,000! apiece - You ve got about 20,000 cards here, and even if they sold for only $10 apiece, that would be $200,000!"
